     JOB GOAL: To relieve the principal of such impediments as prevent him from fulfilling his chief responsibility of promoting the educational well-being of each student in the school. 

 

ALIFICATIONS:

  1. Required state certification
  2. Experience as an educational leader.
  3. Other qualifications are determined by the Superintendent.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIESIt is anticipated that the assistant elementary principal will observe and assist in administrative duties designated to him by the principal, such as:

  1. Effective and efficient planning;
  2. Physical management of the school;
  3. Management of designated personnel;
  4. Discipline and control of students;
  5. Development of teaching resources;
  6. Facilities optimization;
  7. All other duties required in the operation of the school.

 

  1. Attend all staff meetings and school board meetings. 
  2. Make frequent classroom observations.
  3. Become involved in the development of supervision schedules, average daily membership (ADM) reports, and all other forms used in the daily operation of the school. 
  4. Become involved in the development of local handbooks with input from all staff members.
  5.  Work with the counselors in the respective buildings to bring an upswing in the local test scores.
  6.  Work with the staff in the development of an excellent In-Service Program.
  7. Work jointly with the staff in implementing the school climate recommendations.
  8. Help in the area of supervision, student discipline and student activities.
  9. Become acquainted with all special programs in operation and try to implement innovative programs 
  10. Assist with the school implementation team efforts in trying to make the local school more effective instructionally by helping the staff determine what success will look like at a particular school, and designing specific teacher training at the local school.
  11. Have frequent conferences with the principal to discuss any questions and problems that may arise.
  12. Assist with cafeteria operation procedures, payroll certification of personnel and maintenance of buildings and grounds 
  13. Keep his principals informed of events and activities of an unusual nature as well as routine matters related to the principal’s accountability.
  14. In accordance with the established job description of duties and responsibilities for instructors, the assistant principal is expected to teach at least one class daily as assigned by the respective principals.
  15. The assistant principal serves as principal in the absence of the regular principal. 
  16. The assistant principal supervises the reporting and monitoring of student attendance and works with the principals for investigative follow-up actions. 
  17. Other duties assigned by the Principal. 



TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary: According to the Salary Schedule

    Workday: 8 hours per day

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
