General Job Function:

Supervises: Elementary, Middle and High School Principals and other assigned Leadership Staff. The Director of Principal Leadership is responsible for supporting, supervising, and coaching building-level principals to enhance school leadership, operations, and student achievement across the district. This position will lead principals in developing and implementing 90-day plans focused on instructional improvement and operational success. Additionally, the Director will collaborate with district divisions to build leadership capacity, ensure continuous improvement of schools, and foster positive school climates and community partnerships.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

 

  1. Principal Supervision and Development:
    • Supervise, evaluate, and coach school principals and other assigned staff to support professional growth in leadership and school operations.
    • Work with principals to conduct leadership needs assessments, identify strengths and areas for growth, and develop action plans for continuous professional development.
  2. 90-Day Planning and Implementation:
    • Guide principals in developing and executing 90-day plans focused on student achievement, school climate, and instructional improvements.
    • Monitor the progress of 90-day plans and provide strategic support to meet identified goals and benchmarks.
  3. Instructional Leadership and Support:
    • Offer instructional guidance and support, helping principals utilize data analysis to drive instructional strategies and decision-making.
    • Ensure alignment with New Mexico State Standards, district policies, and administrative procedures.
  4. Professional Development Coordination:
    • Coordinate and provide professional development for building leaders, promoting shared leadership structures and capacity-building within schools.
    • Facilitate professional learning communities for principals to encourage collaboration, knowledge sharing, and innovation.
  5. School Culture and Community Engagement:
    • Support principals in creating systems and approaches that foster a collaborative, positive, and inclusive school culture.
    • Engage with community partners to promote parent involvement and strengthen school-community relationships.
  6. Resource and Program Support:
    • Assist school leaders in securing resources, tools, and materials necessary to enhance leadership capacity and meet operational goals.
    • Work collaboratively with district leadership to ensure comprehensive support for principals.
  7. Policy Interpretation and Compliance:
    • Assist principals in understanding and implementing New Mexico State Standards, board policies, and administrative procedures.
    • Adhere to procurement statutes, NM PED rules, and district policies for budget accountability, including the NM PED Manual of Procedures (PSAB).
  8. Strategic Planning and Leadership Development:
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic plans to include but not be limited to 90-day plans, attendance plans, improvement plans, and profiles of student success.
    • Participate in the identification and development of aspiring administrators, creating pathways and professional learning opportunities for future school leaders.
  9. Board of Education Support:
    • Prepare materials for the Board of Education, ensuring adherence to the Superintendent’s timelines and including necessary research and statutory citations.
    • Assist in the drafting, review, and revision of job descriptions and other relevant documents on an annual basis.
  10. Professionalism and Confidentiality:
    • Exhibit professionalism by maintaining exceptional attendance, adhering to work schedules, and complying with the Code of Ethics, administrative directives, board policies, and all applicable statutes.
    • Safeguard the confidentiality of information in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and other relevant laws.
  11. Parent Liaison 
    • Addresses parent complaints and works with school leaders to build capacity in systems and operations improvement, and professional coaching to build the skill of the school leader.  
  12. Additional Duties:

Salary:  As per the approved salary schedule range  $97,760-$104,763
