GENERAL SUPERVISOR: Superintendent
JOB GOAL: To create a Kindergarten Program and Kindergarten Environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for further participation in the total school program, in accordance with each pupil’s ability; to establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide learning experiences in language arts, social studies, pre-reading, reading, arithmetic, science, art physical education, and music to pupils, utilizing State competencies and the curriculum/bilingual curriculum adopted by the Board of Education, and other appropriate learning activities.
- Instruct pupils in citizenship, expected student behavior, and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
- Develop and utilize instructional materials suitable for verbal and visual instruction of pupils with wide range of mental, physical and emotional maturity.
- Provide individual and group instruction designed to meet individual needs and help the pupils make a satisfactory transition to school.
- Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve effective participation in all activities without interfering with the naturally informal atmosphere of a kindergarten.
- Evaluate academic and social growth of pupils, and keeps appropriate records.
- Communicate with parents bi-weekly, monthly or sooner if the need arises, through a variety of means. Hold parent conferences to discuss the individual student’s progress, student behavior and interpret the school’s program.
- Identify pupil needs, and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude and learning problems.
- Create an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards and interest centers.
- Maintain professional competencies through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities.
- Participate cooperatively with the appropriate administrator to develop the method by which the teacher will be evaluated in conformance with district guidelines.
- Select and requisition books and instructional aides; maintain required inventory records.
- Ensure a comfortable room environment through control of heating, lighting, and ventilation to the extent possible.
- Supervise pupils in and out-of-classroom activities as assigned.
- Participate in curriculum alignment, benchmarks, performance standards/assessments and revisions, inclusive of bilingual development programs and implement EPSS.
- Gather data in order to develop strategies for student improvement.
- Participate in faculty committees and the sponsorship of pupil activities to include; in and out of school activities.
- Implement the Teacher’s Competencies adopted by the Board of Education.
- Administer Group Standardized Tests in accordance with district testing program.
- Administer the Language Assessment Scale Testing and Scoring in both English and Spanish.
- Attend board meeting at the request of the Superintendent or his/her authorized designee
- Perform other assigned tasks required of the supervisor(s).
