General Job Function & Goal:   

  

The Graduation Support Teacher will serve as an immediate support teacher to provide credit recovery support to High School Students in need of credit recovery.  The teacher will work closely with the school guidance counselors to support the student's needs. 

                       

To motivate each student to develop competencies, knowledge, and skills in the identified credit recovery content areas.  

 

Education/Training/Experience:

 

 

Performance Responsibilities:

  1. Teach skills and knowledge for High School students utilizing the Edgenuity Online Curriculum. 
  2. Instruct students in the basic subject matter they are failing according to procedures of the school district.
  3. Provide learning experiences that develop the basic online curriculum skills.
  4. Provide individualized and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
  5. Instruct students in the safe operation of electronic equipment used in credit recovery instruction. Make minor adjustments and request repairs as required.
  6. Develop student understanding of the material and help them to complete tasks in a timely manner.
  7. Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment.
  8. Evaluate each student’s progress in the online class being taught.
  9. Select books, instructional aids, and supplies that can help students succeed.
  10. Communicate with parents bi-weekly, monthly, or sooner as the need arises, on student’s progress and behavior.
  11. Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
  12. Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities as assigned.
  13. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and in-service days.
  14. Gather data to develop strategies for student improvement.
  15. Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and in self-selected professional growth activities.
  16. Participate cooperatively with the appropriate administrator to develop the method by which the teacher will be evaluated in conformance with district guidelines.
  17. Administer the Edgenuity curriculum and assessments for credit recovery completion.
  18. Attend board meetings at the request of the Superintendent or his/her authorized designee.
  19. Perform all other assigned tasks required of the supervisor(s).

Physical/Cognitive Requirements:

 

Regularly required to walk, talk, and listen.   Frequently is required to stand and sit. Required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. Light lifting at times.

 

Environmental Conditions

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
