GENERAL SUPERVISOR:  Superintendent 

JOB GOAL: To develop in each pupil develop competencies in basic mathematical skills and understanding of the structure of mathematics; to motivate each pupil to apply mathematical understanding and skills in the solution of practical problems; to encourage pupils to develop their special talents in the field of mathematics.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Teach courses in mathematics to Middle and High School pupils utilizing teaching and student competencies and the curriculum/bilingual curriculum adopted by the Board of Education.

 

  1. Instruct pupils in citizenship, expected student behavior, and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.

 

  1. Develop lesson plans and appropriate instructional aids stressing “discovery” and laboratory learning methods.

 

  1. Demonstrate mathematical concepts using models, chalk board, overhead projector, computers and other standard or teacher-prepared instructional aids.

 

  1. Provide opportunities when needed for individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.

 

  1. Design learning activities that will relate mathematics to the physical world.

 

  1. Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment.

 

  1. Evaluate each pupil’s progress in mathematics knowledge and skills.

 

  1. Select and requisition books, instructional aids and instructional supplies; and maintain required inventory records.

 

  1. Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive environment in the classroom.

 

  1. Communicate with parents bi-weekly, monthly or sooner as the need arises to discuss the student’s progress and behavior.

 

  1. Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.

 

  1. Supervise pupils in out-of-classroom activities as assigned.

 

  1. Participate in curriculum alignment, benchmarks, performance standards/assessments and revisions, inclusive of bilingual development programs and implements EPSS.

 

  1. Gather data in order to develop strategies for student improvement.

 

  1. Share in the sponsorship of student activities such as mathematics teams, to include in and out of school activities and participates in faculty committees.

 

  1. Maintain professional competencies through in-service education activities provided by the district, and in self selected professional growth activities.

 

  1. Participate cooperatively with the appropriate administrator to develop the method by which the teacher will be evaluated in conformance with district guidelines.

 

  1. Administer Group Standardized Tests in accordance with district testing program.

 

  1. Administer the Language Assessment Scale Testing and Scoring in both English and Spanish.

 

  1. Attend board meetings at the request of the Superintendent or his/her authorized designee.

 

  1. Perform all other assigned tasks required by the supervisor(s).





TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 

Term of employment is to be established on an annual basis, through the adoption of the school calendar.

SALARY:

Salary to be established on an annual basis, through the adoption of the salary schedules.

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of Professional Personnel.
