Must have a Diagnostician state license and a NM PED Diagnostician license. Is Part C to Part D assessment.
- Masters Degree in Educational Diagnosis, Special Education Counseling and Guidance, Educational School Psychology, or other approved field from a regionally accredited college or university.
- Valid certificate as an Educational Diagnostician from the New Mexico Public Education Department.
- Bilingual Capabilities.
Overview: To identify, evaluate, and recommend remediation for the exceptional child.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Follows local, state and federal laws and adheres to Public Education Department and Local School Board Policy.
- Administers individual tests for new referrals and re-evaluations to determine learning needs of students.
- Provides consultation for parents, teachers, and other staff as necessary.
- Insures compliance of program review by conducting student follow-up.
- Interprets test data for parents, school personnel, and community agencies.
- Participates in Educational Appraisal and Review committee meetings, under the direction of the Director of Special Education.
- Provides diagnosis of Psycho-Educational needs of students according to state guidelines and provides written reports with recommendations.
- Assists in the preparation of educational prescriptions (IEPs) when deemed necessary.
- Performs such other relevant tasks as may be assigned in a memo of note.
- Coordinates multi-disciplinary team meetings.
- Other duties as required by the Director of Special Education.
