REPORTS TO:  School Principal-Immediate Supervisor

                        Superintendent of Schools-General Supervisor

 

JOB GOAL:       To provide the fullest possible educational opportunities for each District

                          Student by minimizing absence due to illness and creating a climate of health and

                          Well-being in the district schools.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Develop school health education programs and services for grades kindergarten through 12th and implements School Base Health Services.
  2. Develop and implement a HIV Aids, Drug Education and Health Education Program and Curriculum.
  3. Conduct school programs of immunization, physical examinations, and sight and hearing testing by the given timeline.
  4. Observe students on a regular basis to detect health needs.
  5. Instruct teachers on screening students for health defects.
  6. Maintain up-to-date cumulative health records on all students.
  7. Report as the need arises, to parents, school personnel, physicians, clinics and other agencies on student health records on all students.
  8. Participate in filling out time study for Medicaid reimbursement.
  9. Assume authority, in the absence of a physician, for the care of student or staff member who has suffered an injury or emergency illness.
  10. Administer first aid in accordance with established first aid procedures.
  11. Make recommendations to school officials on health needs of individual students.
  12. Implement policy on exclusions and re-admissions of students in connection with infectious and contagious diseases.
  13. Assist school personnel in maintaining sanitary standards in schools.
  14. Provide in-service training programs/conducts presentations in Drug Free Programs, Health Programs, Child and Substance Abuse Programs, Nutrition Programs, Wellness programs and First Aid/CPR Training.

  1. Comply with competencies for Nurses and Health Instructors as approved by the State Board of Education.
  2. Participate in the Student Assistance Team Committee process and curriculum alignment, benchmarks, performance standards/assessments and implement EPSS. Will also participate in Parental Involvement and Safety Plans.
  3. Attend assigned E.A. & R. Special Education meetings and provide input on IEP’s.
  4. Log all out-going long distance telephone calls and fax transmittals.
  5. Write proposals for grant funding.
  6. Administer Group Standardized Tests in accordance with district testing program.(Applicable in Instruction)
  7. Administer the Language Assessment Scales Testing and Scoring in both English and Spanish. ( Applicable to Instructor)
  8. Attend board meetings as requested by the Superintendent or his/her authorized Designee.
  9. Perform all other assigned tasks required by the supervisor(s).

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Work schedule and hours to be established by the Board of Education on an annual basis, through the recommendation of the Superintendent.

 

SALARY:  Salary to be established on an annual basis.

 

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the adopted Board Polices.
