ELIGIBILITY REOUIREMENTS:

  • Licensed tenured teacher with a minimum of 5 years of satisfactory service in

New Mexico schools

  • Appropriate New Mexico Credential

Knowledge of New Mexico curriculum benchmarks and standards, varied assessments and science curriculum

  • Record of outstanding classroom teaching ability
  • Record of successfully impacting student achievement
  • Record of creating model classroom learning environments
  • Record of developing and facilitating effective professional development for adult learners

Proven ability to work cooperatively and effectively with colleagues

Ability to create and nurture a professional learning community Excellent record of attendance and punctuality

Ability to communicate effectively (written and oral)

GENERAL STATEMENT OF THE POSITION

The goal of the Instructional Coach is to support student learning and achievement by increasing the instructional capacity of teachers

The Instructional Coach will work under the supervision of the school principal(s) and the Director of Curriculum and Instruction. The primary focus of the Instructional Coach is to coach and suppoft the teaching and learning of reading, mathematics and science in the classroom through the use of the district adopted curiculum.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Job Description: Coaches will use the following strategies for accomplishing goal

  • Attend professional development and share information with staff Provide professional development to all staff.
  • Create positive relationships with teachers and staff.
  • Promote the use of reflective practices by using examples of student work.

Instructional Coach

Job Description

Conduct research, communicate and demonstrate content knowledge and research based strategies that increase student performance.

Provide support in analyzing student assessment data and engage teacher in conversations to determine action plan.

  • Observe teachers and students in the classroom and offers feedback on instruction.

Provide leadership for teachers by planning, collaborating, organizing, mentoring and facilitating change to improve the instructional program

Ongoing communication with site administrator, Project Director, Director of Curiculum and Instruction.

  • Assist with assessment program
  • Informational presentations at staff meetings as needed.

Professional Development:

  • -Attend bi-monthly training to build professional capacity related to job responsibilities
  • Facilitate grade-level professional learning communities.
  • Present a variety of workshops (including ELI), Inquiry, Notebooks, and content modules).

Additional Responsibilities:

Research and develop resources for integration of science in other curricular areas

(Literature lists, vocabulary lists, writing prompts, math extensions, etc)

Assist in the alignment of the program to the New Mexico State Standards

Access designated database computer program to generate necessary reports Provide student notebook/common assessment exemplars to create project benchmarks

Stay current in relevant literature and best practices related to reading, mathematics and science education

EVALUATION

SPECIAL REOUIREMENTS

Must possess a valid New Mexico driver's license.
