Resources Used in Performing Job Include (but are not limited to): 

Standard office equipment and vehicle for district travel. A district car may be used or if the employee uses his/her own vehicle mileage reimbursement is available.

Regularly required to walk, talk and listen.   Frequently is required to stand and sit. Required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Environmental Conditions

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. 

 

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Demonstrate dedication to job performance and complete tasks assigned.
  2. Accept direction and guidance from supervisory personnel.
  3. Adhere to work schedule.
  4. Keep buildings and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play area attractive and clean at all times.
  5. Regulate heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide temperature appropriate to the season and to ensure economical usage of fuel, water, and electricity.
  6. Clear sidewalks, driveways, parking areas, and areas of snow and ice as needed.
  7. Hoist the United States and New Mexico flags daily before 8:00 a.m. and lower them in the evenings if not lighted.
  8. Sweep/vacuum floors daily.
  9. Clean corridors when conditions require and as directed.
  10. Wash all windows on both sides at least twice each year or when directed.
  11. Keep the grounds free of litter and visually inspect equipment for needed repairs.
  12. Perform yard keeping chores to include, but not limited to: grass cutting and tree trimming.
  13. Clean all chalkboards at least once a week.
  14. Initiate minor building repairs, when identified and/or assigned by principal or supervisor.
  15. Immediately report any damages to school property to the principal or supervisor.
  16. Assume responsibility for the opening and closing of the facility on a daily basis as assigned by supervisor and for determining, before leaving, that all doors and windows work properly and all non-safety lights must be turned off.
  17. Keep an inventory of supplies, equipment, and fuel on hand and submit a requisition to the principal on a timely basis.
  18. Conduct an ongoing program of general maintenance, upkeep, and repair of floors, including sanding and sealing of hardwood floors (gym floors where applicable).
  19. Move furniture or equipment within building as required for various activities and as directed by the principal or supervisor.
  20. Comply with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, litter, and combustible fuels.
  21. Conduct periodic safety inspections of assigned school facilities and equipment.
  22. Replenish restroom supplies.
  23. Review assigned Work Orders and take action to complete.
  24. Replace damaged and soiled ceiling tiles, report roof leaks.
  25. Replace light bulbs and lamps as needed.
  26. Check boiler, mechanical, electrical and telephone rooms; listen for unusual noises; check for excessive heat and equipment vibrations.
  27. Inspect elevators for required maintenance service.
  28. Check for tripped circuit breakers-if breaker cannot be reset, initiate Maintenance Work Order.
  29. Inspect and reset fire alarm system-if cleaning or reset does not clear alarm status, initiate Maintenance Work Order.
  30. Assist with annual fire extinguisher testing.
  31. Inspect and test smoke detectors.
  32. Inspect, test and service all emergency lights.
  33. Inspect and test all lighting fixtures.

    5. Storm Drainage System
    6. Exterior mechanical equipment (noise, leaks, or alarms)
    7. Building Exterior
    8. Entrances

    13. Utility Enclosures
  35. Perform any other duties deemed necessary by the school principal or supervisor.

 

Personal Accountability:

  1. Demonstrates reliability as evidenced by attendance records and punctuality.
  2. Properly notifies supervisor and/or designee of absences or tardiness.
  3. Begins and completes work within the allotted time.
  4. Consistently appears in attire appropriate to the work environment.
  5. Demonstrates skill in the use of equipment including its capabilities, limitations and appropriate/special application,
  6. Protects the District’s resources through appropriate and careful use of supplies and equipment.
  7. Utilizes appropriate body mechanics to aid in the prevention of muscle strain/injury.

 

Upon an offer of employment, pass a pre-employment drug test and comply with the Immigration Reform and

Control Act of 1968, pass a background check and provide necessary documentation qualifications.

Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of Board Policy.
