General Job Function:  

The Early College High School (ECHS) Liaison serves as the primary liaison between the instructional planning components of the College and the local independent School districts (ISDs) in order to support early college high school initiatives and other partnerships. Through this partnership , the students are able to earn college credits toward their associate degree while earning a high school diploma. AS part of this educational experience, the Liaison works with the college faculty and staff to develop non-credit bearing programs and events to support this goal. Working together with the college and school personnel, the Liaison seeks to maintain and develop collaborations that serve to better prepare students for college and careers while fostering mutual learning among the staff and students at the partnering institutions. The College Liaison is instrumental in facilitating students’ progress and success by ensuring that appropriate collaborative support mechanisms are in place, so it is highly recommended that this person have experience working with both high school students and adults (i.e. professors, teachers, parents and school leadership). The ability to develop and communicate with these interpersonal relationships needs to be combined with strong organizational skills around various administrative responsibilities.

Education/Training/Experience:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Four (4) years of experience teaching, counseling, or other college experiences or a combination of high school and college experience
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience working with teams on collaborative projects

Preferred

    • Master’s degree in education, public affairs, or related field and/or state teacher certification.
  • Experience working in dual credit or early college high school programs at a community college or independent school district.
  • Prior teaching experience in both public and community college settings.
  • Knowledge of the Colleague Student Module for admissions, advising and registration processes.

  1. Knowledge on guidelines and regulations such as Lower Division Academic Course Guide

Manual, Guidelines for Instructional Programs in Workforce Education, Workforce Education and

Course Guide Manual.

  1. Operational knowledge of the New Mexico Public Education Policies and Rules.
  2. Coordinating federal-related rules and regulations regarding College Readiness Standards for college-level placement, dual credit, college courses, early college high schools, and technical credit articulation.
  3. An understanding of college admissions policies and procedures.
  4. Must be able to travel to area ISD campuses and off-campus college locations.
  5. Knowledge of State and Local technical articulation agreements and applicable regulations.
  6. An understanding of the New Mexico Essential Knowledge and Skills to compare to the curriculum of

college courses.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Develops and directs the plans and guidelines for the ECHS programs and services; researches
  2. and investigates appropriate modifications for ECHS programs.
  3. Develops and maintains programs, activities, and services which meet ECHS students' academicappropriate; and visits campuses, provides on-site support, and attends meetings on a regularly
  4. scheduled basis.
  5. needs; provides materials, guidance, and direction for teachers, campus staff, and parents as
  6. Works with high school counselors, in concert with College enrollment staff, to recruit and
  7. enroll ECHS students.
  8. Provides scheduling assistance for college course sections for ECHS programs, ensuring ECHSfaculty assignments.

  10. Assists prospective ISD ECHS faculty candidates with information regarding the faculty hiringthe candidate.

  13. ECHS faculty and staff hiring committees, as requested by the ISD.
  14. Ensures college faculties are in compliance with ISD requirements as well as college guidelines
  15. prior to teaching as an ECHS instructor.
  16. Provides all pre-enrollment services for ECHS students (admissions to graduation).
  17. Serves as a resource for ISD district guidance and counseling to facilitate student enrollment in
  18. ECHS programs.
  19. Assists in the coordination, implementation, and set-up for conferences, training sessions, and
  20. meetings to support college readiness, ECHS or other P-16 initiatives.
  21. Actively participates in appropriate partnership meetings, task forces, committees and councils
  22. to ensure successful program integration.
  23. Provides campus orientations and support services to college faculty teaching in the ECHS program.
  24. Develops and maintains ECHS handbook and webpage.
  25. Facilitates ISD faculty participation in college orientation and professional development

activities as well as connections of ECHS faculties with respective college faculties.

  1. Oversees provision of student support services, including the coordination of on-site academic
  2. testing.
  3. Oversees Assists high school staff with logistics related to college textbooks and other college materials.
  4. Guides collaborative efforts to support effective delivery of services.
  5. Communicates openly and effectively, and manages resources to support college and ISD
  6. district goals.
  7. Advises college on matters regarding assigned programs/services; and provides informationnecessary.
  8. including data sharing, advice, and documents to the staff, administrators, and others, as
  9. Coordinates assistance to requesting departments; represents the department in meetingsrequired reports/paperwork, maintains records, and monitors assigned budgets for the ECHS
  10. programs.

  12. Orients, trains, and evaluates assigned employees, and monitors and coordinates developmentinitiatives.

  19. Arranges and facilitates all ECHS and college meetings to discuss needs, facilities, MOUs, and
  20. any other pertinent issues that apply to the day-to-day operation of the early colleges.
  21. Attends both the high school and college graduations for all ECHS students.
  22. Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep
  23. up with the demands of the worksite.
  24. Completes duties and responsibilities in compliance with college standards, policies and
  25. guidelines.
  26. Promotes positive morale and teamwork within the functional unit and provides exceptional
  27. customer service to students, faculty and the community.
  28. Uses interpersonal skills and makes sound judgments to decide how duties and responsibilities
  29. are completed between coworkers, the supervisory chain, faculty, staff, students, and customers.
  30. Completes all required training and professional development sessions.
  31. Supports the values and institutional goals as defined in the College’s Strategic Plan.
  32. Assists with the process for systematic review and evaluation of the planning unit per the modelaction for improvement based on the assessment of those outcomes and plans.
