General Job Function:  

Work with administration, counselor, staff, students, parents and community. Develop student’s academic career, personal and social abilities and address the needs of all students as they develop as both high school and college students.

Education/Training/Experience:

 

  • Minimum:   Master’s degree in educational administration
  • Valid New Mexico administrator license
  • Three or more years in one or more of the following roles (Assistant Principal or Instructional Leader)
  • Successful record sustaining new initiatives
  • Previous record of high student achievement with high-risk populations
  • Record of working well with other administrators
  • Previous experience collaborating with an institute of high education
  • Experience managing and supervising staff

 

 

Knowledge/Skills and Abilities:

 

  1. Knowledge and understanding of college transition and college readiness resources, research, work and standards
  2. Excellent communication skills
  3. Good at negotiations, problem solving and conflict resolution
  4. Knowledge and understanding of ECHS model

Physical/Cognitive Requirements:

            Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions; frequent walking, standing, stooping and bending. Occasional; Lifting and carrying 10-25 pounds occasional more than 45 pounds infrequently with assistance; Pushing/pulling 10-35 pounds sporadically. May be required under specific circumstances to provide physical restraint of students in danger of causing hard to themselves or others.

 

Environmental Conditions:

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

 

Essential Job Functions:

 

Curriculum and Instructional Management

  1. Plan, develop, coordinate, evaluate and supervise instructional programs.
  2. Include instructional programs, academic supports and relationships that address the needs of special populations, such as LEP, At-Risk, Special Education.
  3. Clear plan for assessing and tracking college readiness for all students.
  4. Monitor lesson planning and delivery to ensure the alignment of curriculum, instruction and assessment, as well as ensuring that lessons meet TEKS objectives, college readiness standards and individual student needs.
  5. Research and incorporate established best practices for ECHS instruction including differentiated and accelerated instruction, rigorous curriculum and strong academic support programs.
  6. Supervise and maintain an articulated curriculum plan with the school higher education partner to guarantee the availability of a high school diploma along with 60 college credit hours are available to all ECHS student within a 4-5 year graduation plan.
  7. Foster collaboration between ECHS and EPS leadership and faculty for the purposes of improved instruction and curriculum alignment.

Administration & Fiscal/Facilities Management

  1. Manage and maintain facilities for school
  2. Research and procure grants for expanded student support services, ECHS sustainability, high quality professional development and other continuous improvement programs
  3. Work with EPS to negotiate a memorandum of understanding that covers all ongoing financial and in-kind contributions from each organization
  4. Regularly review and work with partner to revise MOU so that is continues to meet and cover the changing needs of the ECHS
  5. Manage and track all budgets for ECHS operation and sustainability
  6. Develop and implement a plan for growth from 100-400 students during the first four years of operation

 

Partnership with District, State, Community Workforce

  1. Maintain positive and collaborative relationships with the district and school board
  2. Effectively interpret, communicate and implement district, state and federal guidelines
  3. Foster feedback and collaboration with workforce partners to support student opportunities
  4. Foster feedback and collaboration with parent and community partners to support the students and school
  5. Maintain positive and collaborative relationships with EPS

 

Continuous Evaluation and Improvement

  1. Establish procedures for continuous improvement in alignment with the school mission
  2. Develop and implement a school improvement plan
  3. Maintain accurate, up-to-date records and data
  4. Design, implement and maintain a regular student assessment program to track student college readiness and higher education course success
  5. Evaluate and continuously improve staff and faculty professional development effectiveness
  6. Evaluate and improve instructional program effectiveness to ensure rigor, support and student progress to college coursework
  7. Establish sustainable and accurate methods for tracking school and student data for high school and higher education progress and reporting
  8. Review, interpret and use data to understand and improve school student success

 

Personal Management and Leadership

  1. Hire and staff the ECHS for efficient operation and school success
  2. Clearly communicate expectations to all staff
  3. Model lifelong learning, professionalism and ethics
  4. Provide leadership that fosters professional growth of the staff
  5. Demonstrate leadership that fosters collaboration with staff
  6. Demonstrate leadership that fosters collaboration between staff members

  9. Develop and implement new teacher/staff training procedures to indoctrinate into school culture and communicate procedures

Student Management and Leadership

  1. Model lifelong learning, professionalism and ethics
  2. Establish and implement clear, vigilant and consistent expectations for attendance
  3. Ensure recruitment materials and school information has reached the entire audience of potential ECHS students, parents, teachers and principals
  4. Create complete and fair admissions procedures that target an appropriate student body for ECHS
  5. Work with partners to create student activities and opportunities such as clubs, internships, extra-curricular activities, sports, etc.
  6. Crate clear and easy to implement registration procedures for high school and college classes
  7. Align and continuously improve instructional programs and student support services with student needs 
  8.
